A Genealogical History of the Owsley Family, Part 1, Being a Preliminary Account of the Descendants of William Owsley (1749-1819), of Lincoln County, Kentucky, by Ronny O. Bodine.

Due to the enormous scope of the planned history of the Owsley family, the account of the family will first be issued in softbound installments each dedicated to selected branches of the family. Each individual account is being scrutinized for accuracy and every effort has been made to provide information as complete as possible utilizing the latest resources in indexed census records from 1790 to 1930 as well as scores of original court records. It is hoped that the availability of these individual accounts will stimulate interest in additional research and will encourage the submission of information that may be missing or incorrect. Submissions of new and corrected data will then be incorporated in the hardbound final edition.

Part 1 addresses the Owsley descendants of William Owsley, eldest son of Thomas and Mary (Middleton) Owsley. This account presently identifies 451 descendants in 6 generations. Only the Owsley (and variants) name bearing descendants are traced down, but the names and birth dates of all known children of Owsley daughters are included. Each entry includes birth-marriage-death dates and locations, as well as places of burial and other biographical details when known. Document citations are included.
